Hi there! My name is Mia, and I’m passionate about helping students reach their full potential—both in and out of the classroom. I graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Psychology, after completing a rigorous high school program filled with AP and Honors courses (4.2 GPA). I also played four years of Division II collegiate soccer (and even competed in a few track meets!), so I understand the balance it takes to succeed academically while pursuing athletics.
I have nearly a full school year of experience as a substitute teacher for grades K–12, where I adapted my lessons to meet diverse learning needs and classroom environments. I also coached a varsity girls’ soccer team, helping students develop both skill and confidence—something I love bringing into my tutoring approach. Currently, I work as a case manager for Hale Kipa in Hawaii and previously served as a juvenile detention officer, experiences that have strengthened my ability to connect with students from all walks of life.
I specialize in psychology, social work, social studies, history, English, reading, writing, and grammar, as well as athletic development and college recruitment guidance for student-athletes. My tutoring style is supportive, structured, and adaptable—I focus on understanding each student’s learning style, setting clear goals, and making lessons engaging and relatable. I’ve also worked closely with students with ADHD and other learning differences, ensuring a patient and encouraging environment.
If you’re looking for someone who’s genuinely invested in your growth—academically, personally, or even athletically—I’d love to help! Feel free to reach out so we can set up your first session and get started.
