I'm Isabelle and I graduated Summa Cum Laude from two different undergraduate institutions. I have a Bachelors in the Science of Nursing and a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry. I am currently pursing a Masters degree with a focus on infectious disease and immunology research. I have always been passionate about pathogens and helping others understand why they are so important (and super cool too). I have a large background in the biological sciences from introductory to more specialized upper level courses, including nursing courses. I am available to tutor high school and college level students in these subjects, either online or in person.
As for experience, I have periodically tutored fellow classmates and held study sessions where we review topics, and work through sample questions. In addition, I have worked as a substitute teacher for middle and high school students in biology related topics during times when teachers were out for extended periods. I have also worked as a Biology Teaching Assistant.
I really enjoy learning and I want others to understand and be comfortable with these topics. I know how it feels to be overwhelmed by the amount of information that you are expected to learn. Helping others navigate, learn, and understand it is a passion of mine. I want to be as prepared for each session as possible. If you want to work with me, please let me know what specific areas you are struggling with. I try to make learning as much of an interactive activity as I can. I have always found that teaching is the best way to solidify information, so after reviewing and discussing a topic, I like to have students re-explain/teach it back to me through sample questions. Of course, each session can be adjusted for the learning style that best fits each student.
If you need to cancel a session, please let me know at least 1 hour in advance, but I prefer 2-3 hours advance notice.
