I am hoping to work as a Child Development Specialist once I obtain my Bachelor degree. To tutor children in grade school knowing that I can make a difference early on in their education is one of my career goals. I believe that getting children to succeed early on in grade school will help to keep them motivated and keep them striving to be successful in the future and life.
I have been a Sunday school teacher for kids 2 years of age all the way up to 13. I have helped my own daughter, who is now 15 years old, when she was in grade school and middle school; I'm also currently helping my nephew and niece who are in second grade. I am bilingual in Kosraean (a Micronesian dialect) and English. Last but not the least, I have also helped the Waeakea Elementary school ESL program translated English vocabularies to Kosraean.
I have taken all the basic grade school math up to college level math, like Statistics. I have always loved working with numbers and solving math problems. Math is one of the subjects I always get good grades on.
I speak, read, and write fluently in English, although it's not my first/primary language. Having attended the best Catholic private high school in Micronesia (Xavier High School) prepared me very well for college and I always pass with A's in English.
I love helping students especially from Kindergarten to 6th because that's the age, I believe, is the most crucial in a child's education. I have an AA degree and am working on my bachelor's, so I believe I have the educational knowledge to help kids at that age or educational level.
