Aloha!

My name is Paul and I have had tutoring experience since I was in high school. I started college with an elementary education focus, until I decided to pursue law school and focus on environmental policy, economics & law. This path led me to finish my bachelor's degree in environmental studies (with leadership distinction in community service), a master's degree in natural resources management (with certificates in environmental decision making & environmental leadership) and my Juris Doctor degree at the University of Denver. During those degrees, I continually tutored students from K-whatever level I was at at the time. I recently graduated from law school with a JD and certificates in environmental and natural resources law & animal law. I have experience tutoring K-12, college students, and law students. I was admitted to the Colorado bar association, after passing the uniform bar with a score high enough to transfer to any uniform bar jurisdiction; I will be taking the Hawaii bar in February, and hope to take the California and Navajo bar exams as well. I am quite confident in my ability to tutor students for the bar exam and LSAT.

Regarding my tutoring experience, I started tutoring in high school as a world history and geography tutor. I have worked as a teacher's assistant in both elementary and middle schools. Upon deciding I wanted to focus in environmental economics, policy, and law, I studied for the GRE, did well, and attended a masters program. During that program, I worked as a graduate assistant in environmental law, natural resources law, and economics courses. I studied for the LSAT, did well, and started my path in law school. I currently tutor friends for the LSAT. Because of this background, I am competent at teaching all levels of reading, writing, and research.

I love tutoring and helping students reach their goals! It would be an honor to help you and/or your loved one reach those goals and accomplish their dreams.

All the best,
PB

Lacrosse

Lacrosse

I grew up in Central New York, where we played pickup lacrosse year-round. It was akin to how friend groups around the country play pickup basketball. I switched from cross-country/track my senior year, and played on my high school team from summer 2014-summer 2015. I played midfield for most of the year, but became a goalie when our backup broke his arm; this position gave me exposure to ball movement, control of the defense, and a different viewpoint of the game altogether. I also coached some of the younger players (6-12) from my area. When I moved to South Carolina, I joined an adult league, where I played attack (after my new understanding of ball movement), and midfield again. I took faceoffs for my team in tournaments, and bought a d-pole so I could fill in on defense (mainly long pole midfielder). I coached younger players for about three years in Columbia, SC. I moved back home to Syracuse, where my friends and I played pickup. I'd step into goalie mainly (so that we didn't have to use the fake one anymore) and upon moving to Colorado, play pickup with a few of my friends. I attend PLL games often, along with Colorado Mammoth (NLL) games, and watch NCAA games from home/sometimes at DU. I like to watch film in my free time still. I am truly obsessed with the game. I'd be happy to help students of any level, at any position, and with any concerns (whether it be ball handling, faceoff techniques, control of the defense, ball movement, shooting skills, etc.).
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have completed a master's and bachelor's degree and currently attend law school. I have had to complete oral arguments, including one in the US Court of Appeals in Colorado. During law school, I have had to engage in the socratic method and speak on the spot with other students, reciting information from cases and analyzing them based on questions on the fly. In every degree, I have had to give presentations and speak in front of crows; I have also been involved in many organizations during my academic career, and speak publicly often.
Track & Field

Track & Field

I ran cross country and track from my 7th grade year through my junior year of college. I loved it, and am currently training for half marathons/hopefully, I will qualify for the Boston Marathon this fall. I ran varsity track from my 8th grade year through my junior year. I raced events ranging from the 400m, 800m, 800m relay, 1000m (in indoor track), the 1600m, 3200m, and the steeplechase in outdoor (I qualified for sectionals my junior year/likely would have my sophomore year if it wasn't for a torn hamstring). At one point, I was the fastest 1000m runner in my section (until one of my best friends knocked me to second hahaha). I also coached track for students from 8-13. It was tremendously rewarding and I loved sharing my insight with young runners. Though I mainly ran long-distance races, my friends were sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers, so I am familiar with their training. My track coach even had me compete in the high jump my sophomore year so I would have the required meet number, in case I recovered before league qualifiers/sectionals. My coach emphasized the importance of a healthy diet, vitamins, running 6/7 days of the week, biking or swimming in the morning 6/7 days a week, weight lifting, stretching, yoga, and core. I love running because it connects so many forms of working out, in order to be successful. I have run a sub 2-hour half marathon at an altitude (7,500 ft above sea level) and continue to train. I know how to ease athletes into the two-a-day schedule and will listen to their needs to prevent injury.
Yoga

Yoga

I have been doing vinyasa yoga consistently for the past 3 years. I have taken a variety of courses, mainly in vinyasa, but am capable of taking on other forms too. For about 2.5 years, I went 6/7 days of the week (4-5 of which being vinyasa; with 1-2 being alignment). I plan on getting my yoga instructor status after my fall semester this year. I love yoga and would love to share what I know and what I have gained from it with others.
