I spent several years in my undergraduate program working the the theatre's costume shop where I taught fellow undergraduate students with no prior sewing experience everything from the basics of machine and hand stitching up to reading patterns, understanding fabrics, to creating finished garments. If you have a project in mind or just want to learn to use your new sewing machine I can help you learn the techniques and skills to make it a reality.
In addition to costuming and stitching, I have a passion for literature and history and can help a student better understand their coursework in those subjects. I understand that these subjects don't always some naturally to a student but I believe that there is always a new and interesting way to approach a topic that will make it relatable and exciting to learn about.
In addition to looking at these subjects from new angles, I can help you or your child to become equipped with the skills, note taking techniques, and study habits which I used to maintain a high GPA while also maintaining my design and costuming commitments in my time in school. I believe that there is potential for success in every student through finding and cultivating the learning style and unique study skills which work for them.
I have a passion for literature, particularly plays and 20th Century Japanese literature. I am well read in many classic works and have a solid understanding of challenging vocabulary as well as rhetoric.
