With a Bachelor's Degree in the visual arts and two years of teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade art in the classroom behind me, I am delighted to now turn my attention to personalized education. With a Bachelor's Degree in the visual arts and two years of teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade art in the classroom behind me, I am delighted to now turn my attention to personalized education. I love what I do and delight in sharing my insights with those wishing to grow their own skills, whether this be purely grade-oriented or a frustrated hobbyist with a goal that seems so far away.
My siblings and I have been homeschooled most of our lives, so tutoring was ingrained in me from an early age, and when I moved on to private and eventually public school, I just never stopped! With my 10+ years of continual writing experience, I was even able to help my youngest sister transition out of conversational writing to a more professional tone, increasing her grade an entire letter.
I specialize in Art History and delving into the evolution of art and its effects on culture, Creative Writing and letting imagination soar intelligently and fluidly, Essay Writing and learning to organize ideas and change tone and language based the essay type, Oil and Acrylic Painting, and generally many randomized forms of art. This includes bookbinding, knitting, crochet, wax painting (encaustic), charcoal drawing, oil pastels, and more. Inquiries are welcome!
My favorite approach to teaching revolves around learning the person in front of me. I could only help my sister once I uncovered how her brain works and how she processes information, which is difficult if not impossible in the classroom setting surrounded by 25 others in need of the same care. Using conversation and student examples as my guide, together we discover what is trying to be said and needs to be explained in order to better articulate it in writing format.
I look forward to growing together!
