As a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C), I earned my DNP from Georgia Regents University in 2016, my MSN as a Nurse Practitioner from Kennesaw State University in 2002, and my BSN and ASN from the State University of West Georgia.
My background includes extensive work in family practice, urgent care, and emergency departments, where I have managed complex medication regimens for chronic conditions such as congestive heart failure, COPD, diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. I am skilled in preventive care, patient education on drug therapy, and procedures including joint injections and trigger point treatments, while maintaining current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant.
I have significant experience translating pharmacological knowledge into practical, student-centered teaching. In 2016, I developed and taught classes on joint and trigger point injections for approximately 40 family nurse practitioner students in an RN-to-DNP program at Augusta State, as well as a Webex session on cellulitis and erysipelas for the same group. Throughout my career, I have informally mentored and precepted numerous registered nursing students and nurse practitioner students from numerous institutions.
My teaching approach emphasizes real-world case studies, visual aids for drug mechanisms and interactions, step-by step clinical reasoning, and connecting pharmacology to safe, evidence-based patient care.
I am committed to creating a supportive learning environment where nursing students can build confidence in understanding medications, dosages, interactions, and their clinical applications.
Whether you are preparing for nursing school exams, the NCLEX, medication calculations, or advanced pharmacology concepts, I draw on my daily experience as a practicing FNP to make challenging material clear and applicable. I look forward to partnering with you to strengthen your knowledge and help you succeed in your nursing journey.
