My name is Antoine, but I go by AJ. I'm currently finishing up my last semester, at Fort Valley State University for a BA in Computer Science and a minor in Cyber Security. My name is Antoine, but I go by AJ. I'm currently finishing up my last semester, at Fort Valley State University for a BA in Computer Science and a minor in Cyber Security. Throughout the Fall and Spring semesters, I'm also employed by FVSU as a PA, a robotics research assistant, and a college tutor for Programming and other technology based subjects.
Despite my tech focused employment, I'm also a talented educator in many other subjects with years of experience. I've been an after school program coordinator, engineering instructor, substitute teacher, and a mental health technician. My favorite subjects to teach are S.T.E.M, but I'm also fairly proficient with Literature comprehension and digital expression. I tutor all ages from elementary to adults. My lessons are easy to understand, comprehensive and most importantly inspire further creativity in whichever subject.
Algebra, and math in general is all about function more than repetition. If you understand the aspect of the equation and how it fits others as a whole, it becomes much easier to piece together new content. My lessons are about that.
Science you have to make interesting. There's got to be joy and interest in learning about the world around you and how it operates. My lessons include practical experiments to boost interest.
Among the other hobbies I do in my spare time, Writing is what I'm most proud of. And to be a successful writer, you must be an avid reader. My lessons in this subject involve finding a genre your child is interested in and reading books in that genre with a subtle increase in difficulty. Reading aloud to improve diction, then writing their own short stories.
I have ADD myself. I choose not to think of it as a disorder, but learning in a different way. It's not repetition, and it's not enough to hold their attention, but learning practical applications that stimulate the mind. Put simply, it's by doing. Practical learning, with weekly adjustments is the way I approach it.
