Hello! My name is Zykee and I am currently serving as an Active Duty U.S. Army Officer. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in School Counseling and am pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. My educational background has given me a strong foundation in psychology, leadership, developmental theory, and academic writing, all of which I incorporate into my tutoring.
Teaching and Tutoring Experience:
I have over three years of experience tutoring and mentoring students ranging from middle school to college level. My teaching began through volunteer mentorship programs and ROTC leadership training, where I guided cadets in academic preparation, time management, and essay writing. I later transitioned into one-on-one and small group tutoring, helping students strengthen their writing skills, understand psychological concepts, and prepare for standardized tests or military-related coursework.
In addition to my counseling studies, I have experience helping students with APA formatting, research writing, and study strategies. I use a goal-oriented, supportive approach, focusing on improving confidence and comprehension rather than simple memorization. My sessions are personalized to each student’s learning style — whether that means breaking down complex concepts, practicing real-world applications, or using structured repetition to build mastery.
Teaching Approach:
My approach is grounded in patience, structure, and motivation. I believe learning happens best when students feel understood and encouraged. I use practical examples, guided discussion, and active questioning to help learners connect new information to what they already know. Whether I’m tutoring in writing, leadership, or psychology, my goal is always to help students develop independent learning skills they can carry into future courses and life situations.
