Hello! My name is Gerald, and I am a certified K-5 teacher with over 4 years of classroom teaching experience, including 3 years in 3rd Grade. I hold a degree in Elementary Education and am fully certified to teach grades K-5.
In the classroom, I've had the privilege of teaching a wide range of students, from early readers just starting their journey to older elementary students preparing for middle school. My teaching background includes reading, writing, and math instruction, as well as providing support in science and social studies at the elementary level.
One of my specialties is reading development and intervention. I have experience with phonics-based instruction (including UFLI methods), comprehension strategies, and building fluency and confidence in young readers. I also enjoy working with students in math, helping them move from foundational number sense to more complex problem-solving with confidence.
My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and individualized. I believe every child learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to meet their unique needs. I use a mix of direct instruction, guided practice, and engaging activities to keep students motivated and help them experience success. I also emphasize a growth mindset, helping students see mistakes as learning opportunities.
Whether your child needs help catching up, staying on track, or getting ahead, I would love to partner with you to build their confidence and skills. I look forward to helping your child grow as a learner!
