Greetings! My name is Claire. I graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in English and a concentration in Women's Studies. My experience includes working as a teaching assistant when I was a grad student, homeschooling my son (from 5th through 8th grade), and tutoring middle-school students. Additionally, in my work as a somatic consultant, I custom-design and facilitate workshops for both individuals and groups. What I love most about tutoring is supporting and accompanying students as they make new discoveries.
After graduating from Yale, I worked in publishing, and then went on to get an M.F.A. from Temple University. As a graduate student, I was nominated for a national writing award, and also served as a writing tutor for undergraduates enrolled in a writing-intensive college course. Having worked with people of all ages and levels of experience, I know that writing can be challenging. Whether it's discovering and developing an idea, getting through a first draft, or putting the polish on a finished product, I enjoy helping people with all phases of the writing process. In addition, as the mother of a special-needs child, I understand the importance of connecting holistically with students. Each student is unique, and it's my job to listen carefully and observe closely so that I can meet the special needs of each individual. I want my tutoring sessions to be both productive and pleasant experience for my clients; therefore, I strive to create a relaxed learning environment in which students are learning while also having fun.
For me, tutoring is a collaborative endeavor. Please know that I welcome suggestions, feedback and guidance from students and parents alike, and I am always available to answer questions or address concerns. I look forward to hearing from you!
