Bio

I have been tutoring for over 25 years. I have had students from the aged 6 to adults. Having the perfect student/teacher relationship is necessary, because the student must feel comfortable around the teacher. The teacher must pace also him/herself to the student's learning level.

I mainly tutor in English. This consists of reading, writing and spelling. I also have worked as a tutor for students learning English as a Second Language.

Study Skills

Study Skills I believe that hard, difficult subjects can be put to ease by having good study skills. Repeating good study skills can form them into a habit for the student to keep with them throughout their school years. There are many aspects on how to create good study skills. Before anyone can begin, they must know exactly how does the student learn. When the way the student learns is figured out then the next step is just to apply the different learning techniques for the student to follow. The student should understand how they are learning the needed information by reading, writing, speaking,or by using a combination of them. Taking heed of the environment around them and the way they are studying, can have an impact on if the information is sinking in and being retained. They should have their own unique way of taking notes that will make it easier for them to recall what they have read or heard. Also, their note taking needs to be understood at a later date for review. I am very confident that I personally have good study skills. I have shared this information with all of my prior students. In each and every one, I have witnessed their change and their surprise as well, to find out what they had thought would be hard was indeed easy and a success. -Zahra B. Tutor

GACE reading/language arts

Ms. Zahra went over the vocabulary words as well as some of the theories regarding the GACE reading/language test. I feel very confident that I'm going to pass the GACE test with her assistance.

Very Good Insight

Zahra seems to have identified a starting point to help Trey move beyond challenges he has experienced in reading. I am hopeful that she will be able to unlock his ability to become a great reader. I like that Zahra took the initiative to review the website that I had given her to learn more about the curriculum his school uses to help give him a jump start of what he will be learning once school starts in August. Thanks!
