Hello! My name is Taewan Kim. I have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in mathematics education, and I am a certified High school math teacher.
During my middle school years, math was my challenging subject. I constantly struggled, often finding an ‘F’ in my transcript. It wasn't until I finally met with one teacher who spent extra hours after school to guide me through the fundamental concepts. With the teacher’s support, I was able to transform my grade from an ‘F’ to earning an ‘A’, and ultimately pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
This experience ignited a passion within me. I've spent years volunteering to tutor middle and high school students, discovering that many of the students have an issue from previous math courses. For example, one of my students who was in Algebra 1 kept making a mistake in factoring, and I went over everything with him and realized that he misunderstood the concept of variable multiplication. After we went over those parts, he finally was able to overcome the mistakes that he kept making. Just like my teacher did for me, I'm committed to being that guiding light for you. Together, we'll navigate the mistakes and focus on strengthening the foundational skills to strengthening problem-solving skills, and we can conquer this subject.
