For more than 20 years, I have been dedicated to helping children and families learn, grow, and succeed. My background includes special education, family education, parent support, early childhood development, and homeschooling. I hold a bachelor's degree in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley, along with two master's degrees in Postsecondary Education (Curriculum & Instruction) and Strategic Communication. In addition to my professional teaching experience, I homeschooled my five children throughout their elementary years, tailoring instruction to each child's unique learning style while building strong academic foundations. Most recently, I taught elementary students with diverse learning needs in both resource and co-taught special education settings.
My experience includes working with preschool, elementary, and adolescent learners in classroom settings, small groups, and one-on-one instruction. I specialize in breaking challenging concepts into manageable steps, adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs, and creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Whether a student needs help strengthening reading comprehension, improving writing skills, developing foundational math concepts, or building effective study habits, I believe every child can make meaningful progress with patient, personalized instruction.
As a tutor, my goal is not only to help students complete today's assignment but also to build the confidence and skills they need to become more independent learners. I take the time to understand each student's strengths, learning style, and goals so I can tailor instruction to their individual needs. I strive to create lessons that are engaging, encouraging, and focused on helping students experience success both in school and beyond.
