I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Augusta University with a B.S. in Biology, and I am currently pursuing a Master of Public Health at Georgia Southern University while working as a Graduate Research Assistant. My past studies have given me a wealth of information to draw upon, and I have learned how to deconstruct scientific information and make it more digestible. I know that oftentimes, learning biology can be an exercise in frustration due to the amount of information that needs to be assimilated at once, and I believe that a fundamental grasp of the basic concepts can make the subject much easier.
In addition, my experience as a graduate student and teaching assistant has taught me to communicate effectively and efficiently in a classroom setting and to think critically. I find that my tutoring methods focus less on lecturing or providing direct answers and more on understanding what the student is struggling with and breaking it down to a level that the student understands. From there, I can begin with concept reinforcement and work with the student to ensure that they can answer questions that pertain to what they were struggling with before.
Finally, I specialize in high school and college biology and life-science-related classes. I look forward to assisting you or your child with their educational needs. My goal as a tutor is to help improve both academic performance and a student's confidence in their ability to perform well in class. I find that the best way to teach varies drastically from student to student, and I am always willing to explain concepts in more detail or approach them in a different way when needed.
