Mackenzie is currently a student at Georgia Southern University, double-majoring in English (with a Creative Writing concentration) and Philosophy. On the side, she is a substitute teacher for her county, and has worked with grades K-12 for two years as a substitute teacher, a theatre teacher for a non-profit organization, and as a camp counselor/instructor. Her goal is to get her doctorate and become a professor, either in Creative Writing or Philosophy, while pursuing her own writing on the side.

Mackenzie is dedicated to her craft, and has extensive knowledge of the writing process. Her strongest areas include editing, creative nonfiction, poetry, prose, narrative writing, and rhetorical analysis. Mackenzie has written over 130 poems, as well as several essays and CNF pieces, and has recently begun publishing them. Within the last year, she has had one narrative essay and two poems published, and was nominated for multiple scholarships, including the Brittany “Ally” Harbuck Memorial Scholarship.

She greatly appreciates writing and believes that everyone should get the chance to nurture their love for it. To her, writing is a necessary skill that can greatly impact your future, but it's also an art. Throughout high school and early college, Mackenzie found her voice through her writing, and has realized that this form of art can help people understand and express their stories. Her writing greatly focuses on de-stigmatizing mental health, and raising awareness.

When working with students, she puts an emphasis on different learning styles and accommodations and believes everyone can succeed when given the proper resources. As someone who has struggled with ADHD, she understands the importance of reframing material for the individual’s understanding. Mackenzie customizes her tutoring to forward the education of her students (with and without disabilities), ensuring that each individual gains something from their learning.
