I love working with my students: my philosophy is that I succeed when my students succeed. I'm a big believer in the power of education to shape our lives positively and have been teaching at the university level since 2005. I am a licensed attorney. After clerking at the Indiana Supreme Court and practicing law in Indiana, I became a full-time university professor in 2011. Today I am a tenured associate professor of business law at a respected doctoral research university in the United States. I have been an active law scholar and have taught or conducted research in the other areas in which I'm tutoring. For example, with regard to American History, I have extensive experience in primary source and archival research at the National Archives and Library of Congress in Washington, DC.

My course evaluations over the years have been very positive. I strive to help students learn by explaining complicated ideas in several different ways, by coming to a classroom or tutoring session well prepared, and by showing my students courtesy and respect. I am a patient teacher - through my experiences as a professor and my own time as a student, I understand that different people learn in different ways, and that different topics can be easy or challenging for different people. Of course, I will certainly explain the content of interest and help my students to walk through a given subject; but my goal at the end of a session is for students to know the ideas well enough that they could teach it to others. I can help you in studying (i.e., coming to understand the basics of a subject) and with more advanced aspects of a topic (such as helping you to brainstorm for an essay or by providing feedback on your original analysis of the topic within an essay).

I work with college-aged students (graduate and undergraduate) and with high school students who are preparing for college. I look forward to working with you!

I am passionate about impactful legal writing. Following law school, I developed my legal writing skills in a two-year clerkship at the Indiana Supreme Court and then in the private practice of law. Throughout my academic career, I have published roughly a dozen scholarly law articles, the four most recent of which I placed at the nation's premier scholarly journal of business law (the American Business Law Journal or ABLJ -- acceptance rate ~3%). I have twice won the ABLJ's Hoeber Award for best paper and have twice won the ABLJ's Outstanding Reviewer Award for the actionable feedback that I provide to legal writers. I have served as a staff editor for the ABLJ and previously co-founded the Journal of International & Interdisciplinary Business Research, and I enjoy providing high-quality feedback to legal writers.

I have taught in colleges of business full-time since 2011. Currently, I teach in one of the MBA programs offered by the Parker College of Business at Georgia Southern University. I earned an MBA from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.

I have incorporated writing in most of my college courses over the last 20 years, and have advised a number of students on their theses and other writing requirements. I have given extensive feedback to students on their writing during this time. I have also published an extensive scholarly record of my own and have served as an editor and reviewer for several scholarly journals. I have won the American Business Law Journal's Outstanding Reviewer Award on two occasions for the quality and actionable feedback that I provide to writers. I enjoy helping students to elevate their writing for maximum impact.
United States History

United States History

I have tutored American History on Wyzant. Much of my scholarship is oriented towards US legal history. I have spent more than six months of full-time work conducting original primary source historical research at the National Archives in DC, and at other archival collections. One of my constitutional law publications has now been quoted and cited by four state supreme courts. In this way, my historical research is having an actual impact on the development of state constitutional law.
