Hello! My name is Jivan, and I bring a passion for education, a commitment to student success, and a dynamic background in tutoring, classroom teaching, and organizing. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Florida A&M University and have extensive experience working with students across various age groups.

My tutoring journey began in 2018 at an Elementary School where I was an after-school teacher/tutor. I continued tutoring at FAMU DRS in 2022 as an Algebra math tutor. Once I moved to Georgia in 2023, I became a tutor at an After-School Program, where I worked one-on-one with students in Math and History. I collaborated with parents and teachers to identify specific areas of difficulty, designed targeted lesson plans, and used creative teaching strategies to help students master foundational concepts. My approach combines patience, encouragement, and differentiation—I believe every student learns differently, so I adjust my methods to suit their learning style.

I later served as a 3rd grade teacher, where I taught all core subjects. I created and delivered standards-aligned lesson plans, used formative assessments to track student progress, and built a warm, structured environment that supported both academic growth and social-emotional development. I have experience managing a full classroom and tailoring support for students at different proficiency levels. Whether teaching multiplication, reading comprehension, or U.S. history, I focus on building confidence and critical thinking skills.

Beyond the classroom, I’ve led student fellows and trained young organizers through my work in civic engagement. This experience has strengthened my communication, mentoring, and planning skills, qualities I bring into every tutoring session. I know how to connect with students, motivate them, and help them feel proud of their progress.
