Hello! My name is Carolyn Wong, and I am an undergraduate student at Columbia University pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Cognitive Science with minors in History and Dance. My academic journey has always been driven by a high standard of excellence, leading me to graduate as the valedictorian of my high school with a 4.59 GPA , and to maintain a 3.99 GPA at Columbia while consistently earning a spot on the Dean’s List. Because of this rigorous background, I am highly equipped to tutor students in a variety of subjects.
Beyond my traditional academic pursuits, my extensive experience in high level artistic training has given me a unique perspective on teaching and mentorship. As a dancer, I have dedicated up to 30 hours a week to rigorous training and rehearsals while balancing rigorous academics. Whether working one on one with a choreographer in a cretive process or teaching younger dancers foundational techniques, I have developed a supportive, patient, and highly detail-oriented instructional approach. I understand that every individual learns differently, and I prioritize creating an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
In my tutoring practice, I combine my understanding of a liberal arts education with the embodied knowledge from dance. I focus heavily on organizational skills, strong communication, and positive reinforcement to build my students' confidence. My method relies on guided problem-solving, helping students develop the critical thinking skills they need to tackle academic challenges independently. I am incredibly passionate about helping the next generation of students unlock their full potential and find joy in the learning process.
