Hello! I am excited to continue tutoring organic chemistry, as I recently graduated with my undergraduate degree in chemistry (with a concentration in biochemistry) from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. I spent over 2 years tutoring organic chemistry (all levels + labs), eventually also taking on biochemistry, at the STEM Tutoring Center we had available for free to students on campus. I currently work for the Georgia EPD - Air Protection Branch, but my dream is to be a medicinal chemist, and I intend to begin earning my PhD in organic chemistry in 2026.
All of my favorite classes were either organic chemistry courses or courses which heavily involved organic chemistry (medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, advanced synthesis, and biochemistry). I was at the top of my class in o-chem and scored in the top 1% nationally on the ACS organic chemistry final exam.
The majority of my students have been pre-meds, with some chemistry, neuroscience, and biology majors in the mix. I have seen students come in having no idea what is going on in their class to achieving exceptional scores, and a few of my students even became organic chemistry tutors themselves. I started out accustomed to students bringing questions to me, or needing help with assignments, but I have learned to develop personalized lesson plans as well.
I know organic chemistry is a tough subject, and many people dread it. However, I've enjoyed sharing my passion, my knowledge, and my approach to o-chem problems with my students, and have seen the majority of them do extremely well. I've learned to be patient and understanding, and know that not all of us learn the same way. As I have begun my career as a chemist, and have regular day-time hours (in addition to dedication to my hobbies), I tend to be available in the evening and on weekends.
