About Nanette

Bio

I have previously worked at a Huntington Learning Center for 10 years during which time I helped with study skills along with one on one tutoring in biology, chemistry, algebra I and II.

I have also taught high school in the subjects of Biology, Zoology, and Environmental Studies.

I have taught Anatomy at a technical school and tutored that subject also.

I currently homeschool my 3 children and love watching them experience the joy of learning.

I love to tutor and enjoy figuring out how a student learns best and teaching them, not just the topic, but how to study. I feel that subjects like Math and Chemistry, specifically, are such that if you miss one step in the process it throws off the whole year. Finding that missing piece and seeing the big picture come together for the student is what I enjoy most about tutoring.

I enjoy math, and was exposed early since my mom was a math teacher. I have tutored many students in math and enjoy helping them to see how each topic builds to a greater understanding. If you miss one step it can seem like math is hard but my job is to help fill in the gaps so it becomes easy.

I have always loved math. I homeschool my children and grew up with a mom as a math teacher. I have tutored many math students as I worked at a tutoring facility for 10 years.
Anatomy

Anatomy

I am a certified massage therapist and have taught massage school. I have had and taught many anatomy classes and love to teach about how the body works.
Biology

I majored in wildlife biology and taught biology at the high school level for 3 years. I have also tutored biology 1 on 1 too. Biology and can be like another language because of all the vocabulary but I like to make it relevant to the student.
Chemistry

I have tutored chemistry many times at another tutoring location. I love teaching children to understand that chemistry is not that hard once you understand it is all about cancelling units. Each skill builds on the previous so once you understand the basics you will get it all!!

My first love was science and I enjoy making it come alive to children. Science is really all around us and when they realize that it can be fun it makes a difference.

I have a B.S. in Wildlife Biology and took many classes from Mammalogy to Herpetology (reptiles and amphibians) to Ornithology (study of birds). I love to talk to my own children and help them to learn about animals.
