My background in education was fostered from the small private school of excellence in Berry College. It was here I received most of my degree requirements to get a BA in Broad Field Social Science and Secondary Education grades 7-12 social studies and English.
I taught ISS, so I have a strong background in discipline and communication skills to aid students in the ISS room. I did this from 1990-1991 and one period per day in 1995-1996.
My first real teaching job was from 1991-1996 at Coosa High School in Rome, GA I taught the full gamut of classes including gifted and AP Government. It was here that I got most of my high school core experiences.
In 1996, I transferred to Cass Middle School teaching there for five years. I was the lead teacher on my team. I handled all discipline matters working close with principals and ELPs and got a great understanding classroom management. I also actively coached Mock Trial and Softball.
In 2000, I transferred to Woodland High School
For the remainder of my career. I taught a wider gamut of classes including gifted IB and AP. I also helped with the Theory of Knowledge and Research essays for their final senior portfolio. In 2013, I took FMLA due to health issues. My doctor said I was suffering from a multitude of mental problems. Unfortunately, the PTSD I developed from teaching was the very thing that forced me to retire in 2016.
I did not return to tutoring until 2023 with Varsity Tutors. There I learned their platform and mentored many students for tests such as thr ASVAB, writing, reading, and English tutoring.
