Bio

Taking the SAT or ACT is like playing a tennis match: we must understand the game; recognize our opponent's strategies and be prepared to present our own; and be physically & mentally prepared to perform in top form, on the day.

My approach to raising ACT and SAT scores is to address three areas: content; strategies; and physical training. By first understanding your student's current needs and goals, I can recommend and coach targeted strategies so your student can raise scores...

By first understanding your student's current needs and goals, I can recommend and coach targeted strategies so your student can raise scores efficiently and effectively.

Here's what others have said about me:
* Was great at helping me understand difficult concepts
* Made it easy to understand
* Made it fun
* Helped me understand why this subject is important
* I love her!

I treat our mutual investment with the respect it deserves. Preparing for a standardized test involves a significant investment of time and resources by the student and family -- and should yield measurable results.

As your ACT / SAT tutor, I take this responsibility very seriously. I arrive prepared for every session, and I provide a session summary afterwards to ensure visibility and mutual accountability. Homework will consist of exercises targeted for your student and may include online interactives, exercises, and other materials.

An experienced tutor and teacher, I also have experience designing curricula for K-12, college, and professionals. I am also an experienced systems engineer and project manager.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

In addition to instruction in algebra, I can provide tailored instruction in math basics, the building blocks which are necessary for success in Algebra 1, so that your student can rapidly achieve success.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 Common Core is a relatively new math course, integrating elements from all previous courses (!) and intended to provide students with a strong foundation for all future studies. There is a single over-arching objective: how to model real data. Students can learn more effectively and perform better when they understand what to expect and how to proceed. With my understanding of current research and best practices, I am fortunate to bring the context and insight to help you / your student "get" the point, and build accuracy and speed.
Geometry,

Geometry

Physical models, clear definitions and examples, and solid step-by-step instructions and practice. These are among the helpful tools I provide in order to make geometry easy and fun for your student. I am qualified to teach geometry because I have taught mathematics K-12, I am active in math-educator associations, and I have a teaching certification for high school physics, which requires an advanced understanding of geometry.
Physics,

Physics

Physics was an important basis for my training as an engineer. Also, I hold a Georgia teaching certification (GACE) in physics. I enjoy teaching and tutoring physics physical science. I have developed curricula and instructional materials for physics and physical science in both the classroom (high school) and online.

Terrific Holistic Teaching Approach

Could not have asked for a better tutor. Lee took the time to learn the unique needs and learning style of our daughter. Lee then tailored her approach to effectively engage our child. Lee used a wide range of techniques to relate and convey concepts. Our child enjoyed working with Lee (on Algebra II), and we would be happy to work with Lee in the future.

Lee saved a (math) life

Lee did an excellent job explaining very difficult concepts. She was very patient, engaging, encouraging, and professional. Great communication skills. Wish I'd found her sooner- so many tears could have been saved.

Very Good Tutor

Lee, is very good at what she does as a tutor. My son is learning new concepts from Lee that will help him in retaking the SAT. He has met with her for approximately 4 lessons and he is feeling more confident about taking the test again in May. We recommend Lee as a tutor.
