Georgia Institute of Technology (Engineering)
An experienced tutor and certified teacher, I have also developed curricula for Georgia Technical Colleges and high schools. I also work as a technical consultant, and I am a Georgia Tech - trained engineer. I have volunteered in public and private schools for more than ten years.
Whether your student needs help with SAT / ACT test prep, time management and study skills, or improving grades, I can help.
Here's what others have said about me:
* Was great at helping me understand difficult concepts
* Made it easy to understand
* Made it fun
* Helped me understand why this subject is important
* I love her!
I believe that when you hire a contractor, e.g. a tutor, you should expect to achieve measurable results. Therefore, I guarantee SAT / ACT points improvement. My students accomplish their goals because I begin by understanding your expectations, and work with you and your student as a team to achieve goals. We will set, measure, and meet goals and objectives.
It isn't all work -- also much fun! I help students connect our work to their interests and college objectives. I include supplemental career links and college selection / admissions tips.
I really love working with students, of all ages and levels of readiness. I am always aware that tutoring involves a significant investment of time and resources by the student and family -- and should yield results.
As your tutor, I take this responsibility very seriously. I arrive prepared for every session, and I provide a session summary afterwards to ensure visibility and mutual accountability. I share supportive interactives, exercises, and references. I am available for questions and support between sessions.
My educational experience in multiple states and countries, and DODDS, allows me to draw on a global perspective and best practices in STEM, as well as real-world experience in manufacturing, IT, and engineering design. From Maryland, Mississippi, Georgia, and California to the Far East, Middle East, and Europe, teaching and volunteering in schools has always been part of my community life. Trained as an engineer (ISyE, Georgia Tech), I earned a Georgia teaching certification (GACE Physics) while homeschooling my daughter, whose unusual educational needs required a tailored education. I bring experience in classroom teaching, instructional design, and professional mentorship.
Although I am new to Wyzant, I bring many years of technical and teaching experience, and it’s my pleasure to share these with you and your student.
I have some flexibility in scheduling, so that I can offer tutoring during some daytime and evening hours. Contact me to arrange for a free consultation. I look forward to hearing from you. Lee has in depth understanding on AP Physics and she's a passionate teacher. She communicated very well with my teenage son, covered the topics thoroughly in a short time, and she's a great coach on test taking skills. We're extremely grateful for her help and we'll definitely go back to her whenever my son needs help on Physics or other subjects.
Lee, is very good at what she does as a tutor. My son is learning new concepts from Lee that will help him in retaking the SAT. He has met with her for approximately 4 lessons and he is feeling more confident about taking the test again in May. We recommend Lee as a tutor.
Caitlin really enjoyed her time with Ms Lee & Learned quite a bit on The first session. Looking forward to future lessons with Lee!
We are working on ACT Test prep. Mrs. Lee made me fell at ease with the test information. We worked well together on both specific problems and overall test strategies. Looking forward to improving on the up coming test.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have helped students improve their scores on the ACT and the SAT.
ACT Math is a fun set of challenging problems. I can help students develop strategies to manage time and accuracy, and improve scores.
Strong performance on the ACT Reading section requires an accurate interpretation of subtleties as well as an understanding of the ACT Reading format, measurement, and expectations. I have helped many students raise their scores via content mastery and the development of skills and strategies to manage time constraints and to improve accuracy.
High achievement on the ACT Science section demonstrates effective interpretation of written material and graphs, and a strong understanding of scientific principles and methods. As an engineer and science teacher, I truly enjoy helping students develop the skills and strategies to achieve their objectives.
In addition to instruction in algebra, I can provide tailored instruction in math basics, the building blocks which are necessary for success in Algebra 1, so that your student can rapidly achieve success.
Algebra 2 Common Core is a relatively new math course, integrating elements from all previous courses (!) and intended to provide students with a strong foundation for all future studies. There is a single over-arching objective: how to model real data. Students can learn more effectively and perform better when they understand what to expect and how to proceed.
With my understanding of current research and best practices, I am fortunate to bring the context and insight to help you / your student "get" the point, and build accuracy and speed.
Physical models, clear definitions and examples, and solid step-by-step instructions and practice. These are among the helpful tools I provide in order to make geometry easy and fun for your student. I am qualified to teach geometry because I have taught mathematics K-12, I am active in math-educator associations, and I have a teaching certification for high school physics, which requires an advanced understanding of geometry.
Physical science is fun! I use models and analogies to simplify explanations tailored to each student's needs.
Physics was an important basis for my training as an engineer. Also, I hold a Georgia teaching certification (GACE) in physics. I enjoy teaching and tutoring physics physical science. I have developed curricula and instructional materials for physics and physical science in both the classroom (high school) and online.
Patient, caring teacher provides tailored instruction in math basics, including explanations that make concepts easy to understand and remember.
I have helped many students improve their scores on SAT math.
Success in SAT Reading requires advanced skills in interpretation of passages, clear analysis of subtly inflected meanings, and strategic time management. I can help you develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies to improve your performance.
