I love helping kids get excited about science! I have been teaching science for over 15 years to students at the high school and college level and enjoy working with students one-on-one to embrace their inner scientist and learn how to understand and enjoy scientific study. My background in research and education allow me to customize any science lesson to an individual student to help with long term retention and personal connection. My educational background includes a BS in Psychology from the University of Georgia, an MS in genetic counseling from Indiana University, and a PhD in human genetics from Virginia Commonwealth University and have taught courses in biology (all levels), chemistry, psychology, genetics, neuroscience, and more. My teaching career has included both classroom teaching and one-on-one instruction for students.
My goal is to help students understand why what they are studying is worthwhile and important to improve their understanding and passion for the subject. Each student has their own path and journey and I do not employ a one-size-fits-all approach but rather an interactive and collaborative approach to improving understanding and confidence in the students own knowledge and abilities. I will be your coach to allow you to bring out your best work and feel good about your accomplishments while helping you work through the complexities and nuances of the topics you are studying. Wherever you are in your studies, I can help you improve in the ways that are most important to you.
