Bio

I am a High School Physics teacher, currently teaching AP Physics 1 & 2. In previous school years I have taught Mathematics (remedial to advanced, pre-algebra to calculus) and Computer classes specializing in Microsoft Office, Visual Basic, Java, and HTML.

My students perform at or above state and national averages on the AP Physics exam. I had the 3rd highest pass rate of any physics teacher in the state of Georgia for the 2015-16 AP Physics 1 exam.

In addition, I am a reader (i.e., grader) of the AP Physics Exam.

I teach as a passion. I'm glad I get paid (I have two children attending college), but the real motivation is moving just one student from confusion to clarity.

I love Excel. It is powerful, flexible, and beautiful. It will do so much more than add a column of figures. If you struggle with formatting a cell, I can help you make Excel do what you want it to do. If you just can't figure out how to make the formula work, I can help you make Excel do what you want it to do. If you need to automate a process and can't seem to figure out VBA, I can help you make Excel do what you want it to do. If you understand Excel everyone in the office will think you are the smartest person they ever met. Call on me for all your Excel needs.

Reliable, knowledgeable and patient AP Physics tutor

Randy restored my daughter’s love of Physics! She’s quite shy, so his 1:1 teaching style made her feel comfortable to ask questions. He’s very knowledgeable and respectful. Very easy to talk to. He treated my daughter like an intelligent human being rather than an annoyance. She went from giving up on her dreams to a renewed excitement about a career in astrophysics. She was much more prepared to take the AP Physics exam than had she relied on her high school teacher alone. I recommend Randy to any parent or student!

Excellent Physic Tutor

My son has learned a lot with him. Many topics that weren’t clear for him, Randy explained very well. My son feels more confident in his Physic class and ready for the AP Physic exam. He is awesome, highly recommended.

A New Way to look at things

I am a senior in high school and my teacher uses long equations to solve AP physics problems. In one tutor session, Randy taught me a different and easier way to think about my problems that changed my hard algebraic equations into numbers I could solve in my head. Thank you!!

Eager to teach and Nice

He is very eager to teach and willing to explain concepts in alternate ways in order for you to understand. He will let you think through problems on your own and makes the lessons fun. My daughter was struggling with Physics 1 and he was able to get her back on track. She was able to pull her grade up to an A! Excellent teacher!

Fantastic, Dedicated, Engaging Physics Tutor.

I started taking lessons with Randy early on in the school year for AP Physics 1, and immediately found him to be a very reliable, patient, helpful tutor. He knows the content so well and is great about applying it to real-world scenarios whenever he can, making physics very learnable for students. When I struggled to understand a concept, he'd approach it from multiple angles and use a variety of examples to supplement his explanations. I never felt foolish regardless of how many times I asked him to re-explain something because he was always happy to present it in a different way until it made sense. Randy is a very funny, kind, dedicated, and engaging tutor whose goal is to help you understand physics -- not memorize rules and formulas. I feel very fortunate to have found Randy on Wyzant this year and would highly recommend him to any physics student.
