Bio

I’ve been an academic tutor since 2005, supporting students across a wide range of subjects with a particular focus on mathematics. For four years, I worked with Sylvan Learning Center, where I gained valuable insight into identifying and bridging learning gaps. From 2009 - 2014, I served as an Academic Tutor at Georgia Highlands College, teaching basic math, algebra, precalculus, Calculus I, and Statistics. I’ve also taught GED classes for Central Georgia Technical College. Over the years I’ve had a private tutoring service as well. I’ve tutored hundreds of students with nearly a 100% pass rate.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Berry College, where I developed a strong foundation in analytical thinking and interdisciplinary learning. My graduate coursework in math education further deepened my understanding of effective teaching strategies, especially for students navigating both foundational and advanced math concepts. Over the years, I’ve worked with learners from middle school through college, offering one-on-one instruction, small group sessions, and targeted remediation.

What sets my tutoring apart is my ability to pinpoint learning gaps and guide students toward mastery while helping them stay on track in their current coursework. I approach each session with patience, empathy, and a commitment to building confidence. My goal is not only to teach the subject matter, but also to empower students to trust their problem-solving abilities and overcome the intimidation often associated with math. I strive to make learning a supportive and affirming experience—one that transforms uncertainty into clarity and growth.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I guide students through the essential building blocks of Algebra 1, including linear equations, inequalities, functions, and graphing. With patient, step‑by‑step instruction, I help learners strengthen their problem‑solving skills and prepare for higher‑level math. Students leave my sessions with greater confidence and the ability to see algebra as a tool rather than a point of frustration.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

In Algebra 2, I help students expand their understanding of functions, polynomials, rational expressions, logarithms, and conic sections. My tutoring style blends several examples that illuminate connections between concepts. I focus on transforming complexity into clarity, guiding students through advanced problem‑solving strategies while reinforcing the foundations laid in Algebra 1. My goal is to empower learners to approach challenging topics with confidence and to see mathematics as a structured language they can master rather than a source of anxiety and frustration.
Calculus

Calculus

I tutor Calculus I and II, from introductory limits and derivatives to advanced topics like integrals. My approach blends patient, step‑by‑step explanation along with guided practice makes the abstract nature of math feel concrete and memorable. I help students see the connections between algebra, geometry, and calculus, turning complex problems into clarity they can follow with confidence. Whether preparing for AP Calculus AB/BC or college courses, my goal is to transform math anxiety into agency and mastery.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I specialize in guiding students through the foundational concepts of Prealgebra, helping them build confidence with numbers, operations, fractions, and equations. My approach blends patient explanation with guided practice. With years of experience tutoring learners from middle school through college. Students leave my sessions not only prepared for Algebra but empowered with problem‑solving skills they can carry into every subject.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Tereasa aims to prepare her students for the study of calculus by deepening their understanding of algebraic and trigonometric concepts. She develops analytical thinking through exploration of functions, graphs, and mathematical modeling. Students learn to connect geometric intuition with algebraic reasoning, fostering problem-solving skills. Tereasa emphasizes mathematical communication and precision to build confidence in tackling complex problems.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I specialize in transforming trigonometry from a source of confusion into a gateway for mathematical clarity and symbolic insight. With years of experience tutoring students from middle school through college, Whether we are exploring unit circles, identities, or inverse functions, I guide students step by step and meet them where they are. Trigonometry is an important foundational course for higher math. Understanding it will prepare students for Calculus and beyond.
