Hello, I'm Lisa! My passion for teaching math began in high school when a dedicated teacher took the time to personally invest in my success. His commitment to making sure I truly understood the material inspired me to become a math teacher myself. For 19 years, I brought that same dedication into my own classroom—always making it a priority to help students who were struggling by offering tutoring before or after school. Helping students build confidence and succeed in math has always been at the heart of what I do.
Now, as a stay-at-home mom I continue to tutor students of all ages(elementary, middle and high school) in math through FaceTime, in-person sessions, and phone calls, using a flexible and relatable approach to help them build confidence and understanding. Over the years, I’ve worked with countless students, and I love seeing those “aha” moments when things finally click. Whether students need support to catch up or just a little extra confidence, I strive to make math approachable, relatable, and even fun. I enjoy using humor and connecting math to everyday life whenever I can. Understanding that every student learns differently, I make sure to explain concepts from multiple angles until it makes sense.
As a certified math teacher with 19 years of experience—7 years in middle school and 12 years in high school—where I taught a range of courses including Basic Math, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, and Trigonometry. I'm also gifted certified and spent part of my middle school career working with small groups of 8 or fewer students to help them catch up. Beyond the classroom, I supported students in math quiz bowl teams as well.
