Latin Students and Parents of Latin Students: Let me help! I am a Latin teacher with a B.A. in Latin and an M.A. in the Classics; with 15 years in the high school classroom, 13 years teaching vocabulary enhancement using Latin roots and affixes, and several years tutoring in my home and online. My specialty lies in helping Latin I and II students organize and conquer 100's of endings. I have most of the textbooks used in the Latin classroom and a variety of practice materials that the...

Excellent!
I have been taking lessons from Susan for almost 4 years now. When I started with her I had zero knowledge of the Latin language. She is an excellent instructor who works around my schedule with ease. I couldn’t be more happy with how she presents the material in an easy understanding way. She is a perfect example of what a teacher should be, and I greatly look forward to many more lessons with her.

Not willing to work around a schedule
Mrs. Susan Johnson has been tutoring my son since the summer. My son liked her teaching and she also told me that my son is committed to learn. However, since September school started, my son as a high school junior has been very busy with school work and after-school activities. There were two evenings that he was not able to make the scheduled lessons. I called the Mrs. Johnson to apologize and reschedule the class to the weekend. I explained the situation and hoped for her understanding. But she did not want to work on weekends and suddenly became angry. She told me to find a different tutor and hang up the phone call. That left me shocked, I was so polite to her during the call and could not figure out why people have so much anger but so little patience. This tutor is knowledgeble, but she is picky, she does not want to tutor on weekends, not mornings, and complained that 8:30 pm is too late for her. All she wants to tutor is weekday afternoons or early evenings. However, as I could imagine most tutees are high school students. Once school starts, they are busy. We have to compromise and find a way to work it out. I guess the tutor is a retired person who should have more flexibility, however, she is not willing to compromise with the schedule. Besides, there are times she is late to lessons, and my son always patiently waits for her to come online.

I previously suggested that he find a tutor who could better fit his son's schedule. He refused. We've had a set time to meet, and three times he has cancelled just minutes before the lesson. This last time, I again suggested he find another tutor who could better accommodate his son's schedule. After this latest call, he posted the above. I did not hang up on him, but did attempt to be civil and professional. The above post is an irrational rant that probably has little to do with me and everything to do with an unhappy, vindictive person. Please, feel free to read ALL of my reviews for a more accurate view of my performance as a tutor.
Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor
Ms. Sue is so knowledgeable, patient and easy going. This is the third year that my son learns Latin from her. We have no doubt to refer her to any parents or students.

knowlegeable and experienced teacher.
My daughter likes Susan's class ,she is a very experienced teacher. she is very patient. it is nice to meet her. I hope my daughter can take her class for a long time. the most important is, the teacher give the student book to study. it is better than no book to study , just speaking . and she will give her homework to do. i believe it will be efficient for studying.

Patient tutor
Susan and I went over the Book 2 of Aeneid ( vv.1 to 20), reading and translating from Latin to English. Susan helped me to identify the parts of the speech and understand the main idea and details of the passage.

Latin
Today is our first class, Susan sent all kinds of teaching materials to us in advance. She is so professional, very careful and patient, and the children like her very much. I think my boy can learn Latin well with Susan.
