Hello! I am Matthew. I graduated summa cum laude from Mercer University and Oxford University in the United Kingdom (where I studied abroad through an overseas program) with degrees in History and Classical Studies. After earning perfect verbal/writing scores on the GRE, I later pursued a PhD at Indiana University in Classical Studies (Latin and Greek) and taught university Latin courses.

Hello! I am Matthew. I graduated summa cum laude from Mercer University and Oxford University in the United Kingdom (where I studied abroad through an overseas program) with degrees in History and Classical Studies. After earning perfect verbal/writing scores on the GRE, I later pursued a PhD at Indiana University in Classical Studies (Latin and Greek) and taught university Latin courses.

Because my investments in businesses, stocks, and real estate have been successful and I am earning much more through relatively passive income than I would ever earn as a professor, I stopped after earning a Master's degree in Classical Studies (Latin and Greek) and have "retired" early!

For fun, I now teach Latin, Greek, and Value Investing (personal finance, financial planning, and investing) at a high school, because I derive great enjoyment out of teaching. I have been teaching there since 2012. I continually invest in local businesses, stocks, and real estate.

I also teach public speaking and business planning to professionals.

Moreover, I enjoy a wide range of other passions and interests: philosophy, psychology, Chess...just look at my ridiculously extensive number of subjects listed here on Wyzant in which I am specialized to teach!

I love teaching tremendously and do not do so for the money, but rather as a form of "entertainment." Teaching is immensely fulfilling, especially because of the fields in which I am specialized. Knowledge of world history, classical philosophy, and personal finance and investing provides practical benefits for real life, not merely within the halls of an ivory tower.

I have helped many students from low-income backgrounds learn how to improve their lives both philosophically and financially.

Many of my high school students have graduated in the Top Ten, with almost every Valedictorian and Salutatorian of our high school since 2012 having been a student of mine.

Many of my students also have gone on to receive full scholarships to high-tier, Ivy League universities.

A tutor with teaching skill

I have completed tutoring sessions for New Testament Greek with Matthew. With two tutoring session from Matthew, I have learned the pronunciation of Greek alphabets, first and second declension's, translating Greek to English and also English to Greek. He have taught me how to identify case endings for nominative, genitive, dative, accusative and vocative. Matthew has the ability to teach difficult topics through common everyday examples. Matthew is very flexible with his scheduling. He is very supportive and encouraging during the tutoring session.
