I love to work with students to help foster a love of reading and learning. My personal experience has taught me that once someone has mastered reading and language skills, there are no limits to what you can achieve. I was the first of my family to graduate from college, and was able to do so because of scholarships I qualified for and obtained as a result of a high aptitude in these areas. I am a retired educator of 31 years who worked with thousands of students over the years. Now as a substitute teacher who still stays in contact with the middle school students at my former school, I now work in all types of classrooms, but my favorites are the English/Reading/Literature/Science classes where I enjoy helping students understand their assignments and realize their potential.
I love working with young people on a one-on-one basis. I like to challenge my pupils but not overwhelm them, and provide constant feedback. I personalize each student's learning plan, tailoring it to their regular school's requirements and assign periodic homework while providing assessments of their progress.
I will travel to your location to work with your child. While I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I am flexible with my time and will provide makeup sessions and will work with small groups as well.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping your child to achieve success! I love to work with students to help foster a love of reading and learning. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
