My name is Grace L. and I am currently an undergrad at Emory University studying biology and psychology. I scored in the 99th percentile for both ACT English and Reading, and the 98th percentile for ACT science and math.
I specialize in ACT tutoring for English and reading as my scores for both subjects were 35's. I want to help students cultivate their thirst for knowledge and show them how to be confident in learning new material. With my broad knowledge of test taking skills, I hope to advise students on acing the exam with momentum and instruct students on how to think outside the box for difficult questions. I increased my score from a 30 to a 34 in one month, and am eager to share tips and tricks on how I was able to increase my composite score in a short amount of time.

As for piano, I received my senior diploma from the Georgia Federation of Music and have worked with renowned performers and teachers as well as having performed myself in the Hodgson Concert hall at the University of Georgia as a high school student. I am well versed in a wide range of repertoire, ranging from beginner to advanced materials. I understand the importance for developing minds as well as the joy that it can bring.

I have five years of tutoring experience with violin. I've worked with middle schoolers and high schoolers on one on one tutoring, focusing on not only technique but musicality as well. I've led sectionals (tutoring one section of an orchestra) at both my local middle and high school and performed in quartets at retirement homes. I specialize in instructing beginners as I have the most experience helping beginner musicians who are excited to learn enhance their musical performance.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions regarding my availability, tutoring style, or experience. I'm looking forward to working with you!

Violin

Hello, my name is Grace and I've been playing violin for 11 years now. I am not a music major as I am an aspiring doctor, but I have a variety of experience playing in orchestras, quartets, and teaching students individually and in groups. I spent my high school years volunteering at middle schools by giving students free master classes and leading sectionals. Furthermore, I was a member of all state orchestra for four years and I performed in 2 honor orchestras outside my high school. I was the second concert master at the top orchestra at my school, and president of the orchestra council where I led sectionals for my fellow high school students and organized charity events.

Very good with my son

Grace works very well with my son. She’s patient and knowledgeable, and flexible as needed. I appreciate all that she does for my son. She helps him in a variety of subjects, including piano, reading comprehension, and mathematics, and does very well in all of them.

Very good violin lesson

It has been great violin lessons by young learners (age 10 & 12)who have taken up interest in music. So far they are learning violin and continue to want to do so.

Knowlegeable and patient tutor

Because of g Grace's patience, my daughter is willing to continue with lessons after the first tutorial. However there were barking dogs in the background just for a short period of time that were a bit of a distraction. But once they quieted, lessons resumed as normal.

Tutor responded:

Hi Kimberly, I am glad that you enjoyed the first lesson. I apologize for the dogs and I can assure you they won't be a problem in the future because the dogs that were barking were actually my sister's. She is visiting for two weeks and as soon as she moves back into her apartment, every lesson should be barking free!
