Hello, I'm Tegan! In May, 2022 I graduated summa cum laude from the University of West Georgia, where I earned two degrees-- one in English language and Literature, and one in German. In addition to my major areas of study, I completed a minor in creative writing. During my time at UWG, I occupied a wide range of tutoring positions. For three years, I worked as a Supplemental Instruction Leader. As an SI leader, I sat in on various English and German courses, and help group tutoring lessons tailored both to each courses' content and students' needs. Concurrent to my time as an SI Leader, I worked as a peer tutor for German and English. This involved meeting one-on-one with students, discussing their individual learning challenges and outcomes, and developing tasks to meet their specific learning goals.
In a similar setting, I have one year of experience as a writing consultant for the UWG Writing Center. During our sessions, I worked individually with students on a piece of their writing at any stage, from brainstorming a topic to final draft. Together, we would address a range of writing aspects relevant to their work-- grammar, content, analysis, organization, format and style, research, etc.
Each of these positions taught me flexibility in my teaching methods and molded my ability to tailor sessions to a student's unique learning style. I've also amassed writing and language resources to provide to students, therefore supporting them beyond our time in a session.
As a German tutor and SI leader, I curated lesson plans that unified language-learning cornerstones such as vocabulary, grammar, writing, and oral communication in a creative and engaging way.
On top of my English experience-- which includes facets such as style, grammar, and literature analysis-- I'm also TEFL certified through a 168 hour program conducted by The TEFL Academy.
