I am a lifelong learner; therefore, it is my belief that all people can learn and should be afforded the opportunity to learn. For this to happen, lessons must be structured to allow success. Teachers should pre-assess their students to determine learning styles, areas of strengths, areas that need further development, and individual interests. Teaching strategies and experiences should incorporate a variety of hands-on creative activities that are student-focused, not teacher-directed, and individualized to meet the needs of every student. Assessment should be authentic and reflective of the skills being taught. Textbooks and worksheets that require little thinking and student involvement will not prepare students to meet the challenges of their future.
I have adhered to this approach with any learner, regardless of the age or ability of the students. My lessons and methods have always been structured to maximize each learner’s success, not a rote method for all. While keeping the requirements within curriculum guidelines, I develop activities and materials that meet the needs of each student individually.
I am a third-generation teacher, and I hold myself to a very high standard. I welcome any feedback.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success!
