Hi. I'm Sharon. I am a college biology instructor offering tutoring in Biology I & II, AP Biology, and high school science. I also support students in Introductory Chemistry and focus on helping students understand concepts clearly and build confidence.

Since completing my Master of Science degree in Biology in 1994, I have been teaching Biology and Environmental Science courses at the high school and college level. I have experience tutoring students both through a college tutoring center and as an independent private tutor.

As a tutor, I work one-on-one with students to help them better understand various subjects in Biology, General Chemistry, and Environmental Science courses. I consider myself to be a cheerleader for the student offering support and encouragement, along with providing study and test-taking tips. I like to see students work hard to achieve higher scores, using the tools and techniques I provide them as a tutor.

I have two degrees (B.S. and M.S.) in Biology. I have been teaching both college and high school Biology and Environmental Science courses since 1994. I am currently teaching a college-level Environmental Science course that is related to Botany. I have been tutoring since 2006, and I was able to start my own private tutoring business in 2013. I am experienced in tutoring subject matter related to Biology, Environmental Science, and General Chemistry.

I want to see students succeed in Biology and related sciences. I have been told by former students (both in class and through tutoring) that they like how I explain the concepts in a format that makes it easier for them to understand. I would encourage any student who is struggling with understanding concepts related to Biology, General Chemistry, and Environmental Science to please reach out to me with additional questions or to schedule a lesson.

Botany

Botany

I have taught a College-level Biology/Environmental Science course that is entitled, "Plant Resources in the Environment" for more than 5 years at a local college. The focus of the course addresses plant structure, function and the roles plants have in our environment. This experience has significantly increased my knowledge of botany, from the plant cell structure, as well as plant tissues and organs, to the processes of photosynthesis, cellular respiration, transpiration, and translocation happening within plants.
