Hi! I'm Katie and I am current MS1 at Johns Hopkins. I graduated from Georgia Tech with a major in Biomedical Engineering in May 2020. I scored in the 100th percentile on my MCAT in January 2020. During my gap year, i was in Germany doing epilepsy research at the University of Bonn as a Fulbright Scholar. In undergrad, I was heavily involved in epilepsy research at Emory University and I also conducted synthetic biology research at Northwestern University. I am passionate about STEM outreach and served as the Society of Women Engineers Vice President of Youth Programs where I planned and hosted day-long events for elementary, middle, and high school girls to come to Georgia Tech and fall in love with science and engineering. It was a joy to teach difficult engineering concepts in a digestible way to young girls and have them exclaim "I want to come to Georgia Tech and be an engineer!". I aim to bring that same skill and passion to tutoring! I truly believe anyone can succeed with the MCAT and I intend to breakdown topics and concepts to make them more accessible to STEM and non-STEM majors alike.
I scored a 526 on the MCAT, which is the 100th percentile. I attribute my success to a rigorous study schedule, extensive knowledge of the concepts, lots of practice tests, and tips and tricks to tackle the exam.
My breakdown is as follows:
Chem/Phys: 132 (100%)
CARS: 132 (100%)
Bio/Biochem: 131 (99%)
Psych/Soc: 131 (98%)
For every student, I will craft an individualized study schedule to help you figure out what resources to use and when to use them. Most sessions will be student-directed and consist of tackling questions related to practice problems or content together.
I am also happy to help with the med school application process, whether that be preparing your application, personal statement review, secondaries, interview prep, or general advice.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you might have. I would love to chat!
