I prefer to teach and tutor by using a more hands on approach by presenting the material to the student step by step. Once I have determined that the student understands how to complete an assignment or problem step by step, I then have them show me step by step what I did or said to make sure that they understand.
As far as my experience as a tutor, I have participated in Hands on Atlanta: Discovery Program. In that program we work with different schools in reading, writing, and math. Volunteers in this program help design different activities that will encourage students to utilize the different skills they have learned in math and English during the school week. I specialize in grammar, vocabulary, reading, language arts, punctuation, SAT English and Writing, ACT English and Writing. In Math, I specialize in Elementary Math, Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, ACT Math and SAT Math preparation and study skills. During the summer, I provide remediation and acceleration services to help the student prepare for the next school year.
I have worked with students with learning disabilities and from K-12 grade levels. I am available to work Sunday-Saturday anytime. I currently charge $50.00 per hour in person and $40.00 per hours online. These prices are negotiable. During the first section, I complete a consultation so I can understand the need of the child or adult, what subject area is the biggest concern, and what time frame we will have to complete what we are trying to complete.
What makes me an outstanding tutor because I am patient and kind and will help my student work step by step in a problem to make sure they understand, let them try on their own, and guide them in that process.
