I hold both a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with a minor in professional writing and a master’s degree in professional writing with concentrations in creative writing and composition and rhetoric. For more than a decade, I have taught first-year writing at the university level in a range of modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online courses. My teaching background began in a writing center, where I provided one-on-one support to students at all stages of the writing process, led workshops, and visited classrooms to introduce students to available writing resources. That early training helped me develop a strong foundation in individualized instruction, and it continues to influence the way I approach tutoring today—patiently, collaboratively, and with a focus on building confidence as well as skill.
Over the course of teaching multiple sections of composition each year, I have guided hundreds of students through academic writing, research, analysis, and revision. I have also supervised undergraduate thesis work, participated in professional development for instructors, and led workshops on integrating the visual arts into composition courses. Outside the classroom, I have experience as a published writer, art reviewer, and editor, which allows me to help students strengthen both the technical and creative dimensions of their writing. Whether working with beginners or advanced students, I specialize in helping writers clarify their ideas, organize their arguments, and develop stronger stylistic control. What sets me apart as a tutor is the combination of my teaching experience, my background in both the arts and writing, and my commitment to making the writing process accessible, supportive, and genuinely productive for every student I work with.
