I help ESL learners improve their grammar, build confidence in conversation, and express their ideas more clearly in both spoken and written English. Because of my background in Russian language and culture, I especially enjoy working with Russian-speaking learners. My study of Russian has helped me understand some of the grammar patterns that can be especially challenging for Slavic-language speakers learning English.
I earned my undergraduate degree from Emory University in Russian, where I also studied German. My background in language study has given me a strong understanding of grammar, sentence structure, and the challenges learners face when using another language.
While studying at Emory University, I tutored adult ESL learners in one-on-one sessions. I helped students practice conversational English, clarify grammar concepts, expand vocabulary, and strengthen reading comprehension. Working one-on-one allowed me to adapt each lesson to each student’s goals, pace, and learning style.
My tutoring style is patient and focused on helping students understand how English works. Rather than simply correcting errors, I help students understand the patterns behind English grammar so they can apply what they learn with confidence. I work with learners at different levels of English and tailor lessons to each student’s goals.
In our first lesson, we begin with a short conversation so I can understand your goals and current level of English. From there, we focus on the areas that will help you most, whether grammar, conversation, or writing.
