My teaching journey has taken me from high school world history and ESOL classes to undergraduate courses at institutions like SOAS and Wesleyan College, where I’ve taught everything from global history to foodways. I’ve worked extensively with students one-on-one, providing tailored writing support, helping them build confidence and clarity in their ideas. My tutoring approach is patient, affirming, and rooted in critical thinking. I prioritize creating a welcoming learning environment where students feel safe asking questions, developing their voices, and mastering material at their own pace. Whether in small seminars, large lectures, or individualized tutoring sessions, my focus remains on helping learners grow into capable, self-assured thinkers.
With over two decades of teaching experience, I bring a deep passion for education and a proven ability to support students across a wide range of ages and learning styles.
I hold a PhD in History from SOAS, University of London, where my research focused on food and identity in West Africa. I also earned a master’s degree with distinction in World History from Georgia State University and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Macalester College. I am a certified teacher for Social Studies in the state of Georgia and have taught in both the U.S. and the U.K., from secondary classrooms to university lecture halls.
