As an Early Childhood/Special Education student graduating from the University of North Georgia with honors, I have a very strong interest in pursuing a teaching career. With the extensive field experience I have gained from the rigorous program at UNG as well as my own experience as a father of five, I have a diverse background and can offer a great deal to your student.
The University of North Georgia has given me a great deal of field experience that began before I even started in the education program. I had the opportunity to complete 80 hours of observation in both an elementary and a high school special education setting. I then went on to complete six 6-week field placements that included three special education classrooms, both resource and co-teaching, a kindergarten classroom, a third-grade classroom, and a fourth-grade classroom. During my field placements, I had the opportunity to work with students from every grade level, but I worked mostly with upper grades and developed a passion for working with the older children.
I have experience in both a practical setting within the Hall County School District and in a theoretical setting in various university courses. I have always had a passion for math and enjoy spreading that passion to my students.
I have a great deal of experience teaching science to upper grades (3rd, 4th, and 5th) and have used a variety of teaching methods including direct instruction and inquiry-based learning.
I have a reading endorsement and have spent the majority of my student teaching in a reading/writing classroom. I base all ELA instruction on individual student interests as this is a proven method to increase student achievement in all subjects.
