My name is Adam, and my students know me as Mr. B. I bring 34 years of teaching experience in middle school and high school classrooms. I currently teach engineering, technology, and computer science to students in grades 6–8 at Locust Grove Middle School in Georgia. My background also includes approximately 20 years teaching architectural design and computer-aided drafting, 10 years teaching middle school science, and high school computer science experience. I enjoy helping students turn confusion into understanding and develop confidence in their abilities.
My tutoring focus includes middle school math, science, technology, and introductory computer science. Teaching engineering and drafting has given me extensive experience helping students apply measurement, geometry, proportions, and logical problem-solving to practical projects. My science background helps me explain challenging ideas through familiar examples. I begin by finding out what a student understands and where the difficulty starts. Then I break the skill into manageable steps, demonstrate an example, guide the student through practice, and ask them to explain their thinking. This helps students understand the process and become more independent.
I bring patience, humor, and clear expectations to my work with students. Years in the classroom have taught me that students need different explanations, different pacing, and opportunities to ask questions without embarrassment. I aim to make lessons encouraging, focused, and useful, whether we are strengthening foundational skills, working through homework, or preparing for a test. I welcome input from students and parents so we can set meaningful goals and recognize progress together. Please contact me to discuss your student’s needs and how I can help
