Hi, I’m Maggie. I graduated summa cum laude with a Master’s degree in Education and magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics (with a minor in communication and leadership). I began my tutoring career when I was in high school working with middle school students in math. In college, I expanded to tutoring math to high school students as well as working in my college’s tutoring center to help both 1-on-1 and small groups. After graduation, I held roles as a professional tutor in a tutoring center and as a college instructor. I’ve accumulated about 8 years of direct tutoring experience in a combination of settings: 1-on-1, group, classroom, tutoring centers, libraries, in person, and online.
While my favorite area of math is Algebra, I also discovered the joy of helping students develop general study and academic skills. I love to watch a student gain confidence that spreads beyond math class and into other academic areas and life itself! Everyone learns differently so I value working together to find the method that works for each individual. Sometimes it’s pencil to paper practice, sometimes it’s verbalizing it. Many students do well watching me solve a problem, walking through one together, then trying on their own. You really know you’ve got it when you can “teach” it back to me! That said, I’m always learning myself, so let’s figure out what works best for you together.
