I am a firm believer that every student just needs the right teacher to excel in learning. I am a Graduate of Georgia Gwinnett College with a Bachelors of Science in Cell Biology and Biotechnology. In college I was constantly tutoring my peers, sometimes classmates and sometimes other friends. I scored 98th percentile in Georgia and 96th percentile in the nation on the ACT and have professionally tutored subjects that involve the type of math covered in the ACT Math portion. I have had so many Biology classes over my education career ranging from basic (Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell) to the advanced (memorizing all 21 amino acid names, polarity, R-groups, and functions). It was my major in college and is still my favorite comprehensive subject.
I have tutored College Algebra, Chemistry, and Statistics professionally and many other science and math related subjects non-professionally these last 10 years. I have worked with Middle and High School students as well as college and adult students. I have been a paramedic for 4 years and in EMS for 7 years. A large part of a paramedics job is teaching. I have to teach every single day I'm on shift whether it's my patients, their families, or my partners. It's my job to know what I'm talking about and how to communicate that to others.
My teaching philosophy is that every single person learns differently and everyone is smarter than they think, so my way of tutoring is very flexible as I will learn how you best learn and base my teaching off of our interactions. I believe that encouragement is key and my favorite thing about teaching is when a concept "clicks' in a students mind and a smile lights up their face!
I will always provide fast responses and please feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a session! Also, if you have any suggestions or ways that you feel that would improve you or your child's learning experience with me, please let me know! The best teachers are always learning!
