About Isaiah

Bio

When I was young, math came to me more easily than anything; when I got to college, the pace suddenly sped up into a whirlwind of numbers and code swirling around me. Experiencing both ease and struggle shaped me into a tutor who not only understands mathematics and programming deeply, but also understands the learning process itself. I recognize the moments when concepts feel intuitive and the moments when they feel overwhelming, and I use that awareness to guide students through roadblocks...

I recognize the moments when concepts feel intuitive and the moments when they feel overwhelming, and I use that awareness to guide students through roadblocks clearly and patiently.
I studied at the University of San Francisco from 2021 to 2025 where I received my bachelor's degree in Computer Science (with a minor in Japanese Studies), with my heart set on becoming a game developer. While there, I worked at theCoderSchool and taught Scratch to some of our younger students (six to ten years old) and Python to a wide range of ages (nine to sixteen years old). Over time, I even got to teach some of our more advanced students Java, Web Development, and Godot Game Development. I still work with theCoderSchool remotely as the Game Development Coach, where I walk through projects with students from the planning phase to building the game they envision, with a focus on research and testing to get the best results out of our games.
I also taught as a professor's assistant in my senior year, in a C and Systems Programming course, where I had the opportunity to teach adults low-level programming and memory management. This, combined with my time at theCoderSchool, gave me much experience with teaching in large group environments, where I was able to teach broad concepts, as well as personal one-on-one coaching, where I was able to engage with a student more accurately.
