Hello, my name is Julian! I graduated from Beloit College with a Bachelors in Media Studies, and currently applying to get a Masters in Counseling. I started tutoring after college, and have spent close to 1000 hours one-on-one with over 70 different kids. I've helped 4 year-olds learn their letters to teaching 18 year-olds with writing college application essays. I specialize in Math, Writing, and Reading, but can be flexible for any child's needs.

I am currently trying to get a Masters in counseling. One of the first things I learned when I started tutoring was how similar to therapy it was. The most important thing to establish is safety, or a child won't want to learn or feel comfortable in that kind of situation. In addition, many times the issue isn't with a lack of knowledge but with something internal holding them back. That's why I believe it's important to establish a relationship with a child first and then teach.
I work especially well with children on the spectrum, being someone who experiences life with autism. A key component in communication is empathy and understanding perspective, something I an uniquely suited to provide. I know what strategies work for me, and often those work for others. I also have a great deal of experience tutoring kids on the spectrum, creating lasting productive relationships to help them succeed with their academic endeavors.
