Hello! My name is Dr. Kerrie, and my goal is to work side by side with your son/daughter in enhancing his or her Language Arts, writing and study skills. I just received my doctorate in Educational Leadership from Argosy University. My short and long-term goals are to work with families in assisting their child/children in preparing for standardized tests, assisting slower learners, working with students who need additional training outside of the traditional classroom, helping to build students motivation for learning; assisting students in organizing their work folders, so that they can locate or retrieve documents during classroom discussions. Ultimately, my goal is to assist students in LEARNING the fundamentals in English grammar, writing, reading comprehension and mathematics RULES!!! Once students learn and understand these RULES, they are then ready to write, read and compute mathematical problems effectively. Additionally, I will work closely with students during the summer months to keep their minds sharp and ready for the new school year. I will also teach students how to "think critically, how to write evidence-based essays, how to write a basic outline and brainstorm for ideas prior to writing." (ASK ME ABOUT THE BASIC RULES MANUAL FOR ALL SUBJECTS THAT I CREATED...IT'S A MUST HAVE MANUAL!) I would like to meet with you and see if we can establish a mutual partnership to help your child. I have a middle and high school daughter, and I use all of these techniques to teach them.
This is a very exciting time for me as I look forward to working with students in preparation for the CRCT and SAT exams. I am eager and prepared to get in the classroom and learn along with your child. As a student for most of my life, my studies have been a priority for me. However, as an individual, I have found time for other activities. I enjoy doing all kinds of sports, as well as writing stories, motivational speaking, and mentoring young people.
I try to spend a significant portion of my time exercising and developing my mindset. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse group of children in various environments. These experiences have brought on new opportunities for me to learn what makes students learn, and what I found out is that every PERSON has his or her own unique style of learning. My goal is to find your child's or children' unique styles of learning and then build upon their styles. From there, the sky is the limit. Therein, the doors of learning are open...as they say in church...the door of the church is open!!! Know that your child has talents, and we have to HELP them find their talents. They are only kids. An old saying...you can lead a horse to the water, but you cannot make that horse drink. The same with our children...we can lead them to the classroom, but we cannot make them learn. What if you and I CREATE A THIRST WHERE YOUR CHILD, MY CHILD WANTS TO LEARN. Do YOU believe they will then learn? I do. I like to see myself as a FARMER, I plant seeds all day. I then water those seeds and pull off dead weeds that may prohibit future growth. Then, I wait and let GOD do his magic.
This understanding of diversity goes with me as I come into the Language Arts and writing classroom with your child or children. I am very excited to spend the school year recognizing and appreciating your son/daughter unique talents and their contribution in the world of education. I hope that the classroom will be a place of learning, challenging, and growing both for me and for your son/daughter. I value your partnership in this endeavor.
P.S. I work with parents in teaching them basic tools on how they can assist their children with homework assignments, i.e. basic division, fractions, decimals, reading comprehension and grammar. I also teach parents how to use the Internet search engines in locating documents to help their child/children with class assignments.

I will give a generous discount for securing multiple tutoring dates in advance.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Hello, I strongly believe I am capable of teaching public speaking skills because I am a current Toastmaster member; I have competed and won speaking engagements at the club and the district levels. Additionally, I just completed an in-person dissertation and sound speaking techniques were important. I currently teach speaking skills and delivery techniques to students. Moreover, I convey to students inspiring to learn public speaking to relax, speak from the heart, speak on topics one is familiar with; practice good breathing techniques and most of all; how to make friends prior to speaking to an audience. In addition, I make strong reference about preparation and good eye contact, body language, voice pitch and enthusiasm. In closing, I inform potential speakers how important it is to develop good presentation skills because many deals are won and lost based on one's ability to speak impromptu, at round table discussions and in large groups. Again, I believe if given the opportunity to teach public speaking skills, individuals will gain so much knowledge because my passion for speaking is contagious.
I currently teach GED classes at Atlanta Technical College in Atlanta, GA. A major part of my job is preparing students to take the GED exam. Therefore, teaching students various testing and studying techniques are key components to my and their success. I am currently in school studying for my Doctorate in Higher Educational Leadership. I specialize at the college in curriculum design, as well as, developing teaching methods, both home and in-school. Statistics show that 80% of students who dropped out in high had poor study habits. This same population enrolled in GED programs and continue to have poor study habits. For example, most students with low test scores and low academia tend to have poor organization and time-management skills. I work with these students to develop a personal plan that will improve their study skills and test-taking skills.
