Hello! I am Leslie, an educational strategist, certified professional coach, and double 4.0 GPA graduate dedicated to helping students move from academic stress to greater confidence and competence. As the former founder and director of a diagnostic-prescriptive learning center (A-PLUS Education Center) and former Director at Sylvan Learning Center, I have 5+ years of direct experience helping K–12 students identify learning gaps and develop personalized pathways for success. My broader professional experience includes adult learning and development, training, and coaching. I hold a Master’s degree in Human Services Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Communications.

My approach combines academic support with practical study and executive-function skills. Sometimes a student who appears to be struggling in a subject is actually missing an underlying skill needed to succeed. I help identify what is getting in the way and build practical strategies to address it. Depending on the student’s needs, we may work on reading and writing skills, organization, time management, task initiation, assignment planning, test preparation, and the development of more effective study habits.

My tutoring style is warm, encouraging, and individualized. Rather than simply giving students answers, I help them understand what they are learning, solve problems, use appropriate academic resources, and develop strategies they can increasingly use independently. Parents and students are welcome to message me with their academic concerns and goals so we can determine whether I am a good fit and develop a plan for moving forward.

Approved Subjects

Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

I have more than five years of experience in diagnostic-prescriptive supplemental education, including serving as founder and director of A-PLUS Education Center and as a Director at Sylvan Learning Center. Many of the students I worked with had identified learning disabilities, ADHD, or other learning differences. Our individualized programming addressed academic skills as well as the study and self-management skills students needed to succeed. Through Study Skills instruction, I worked with students on many skills now commonly associated with executive functioning, including organization, planning, time management, sequencing tasks, prioritizing assignments, and following through with academic responsibilities. My approach is practical and individualized. I help students identify what is getting in the way, break assignments and larger tasks into manageable steps, create realistic plans and organizational systems, and develop strategies for managing their academic workload. Rather than simply organizing things for the student, I provide structure, coaching, and practice designed to help the student become increasingly able to use these strategies independently.
Photography

Photography

Classically trained commercial, portrait and fine-art photographer with extensive experience in studio and outdoor lighting, composition, portraiture, and architectural photography. My background includes work exhibited with the Association of Media Photographers (ASMP), commercial campaigns, and formats ranging from 35mm to 4x5 large format film. I coach students on mastering the core mechanics of exposure, reading light, framing, and visual storytelling. My goal is to help you develop your artistic eye and intentionally create captivating images with confidence.
Reading

Reading

I have 5+ years of experience in diagnostic-prescriptive supplemental education, including serving as a Director at Sylvan Learning Center and founder/director of A-PLUS Education Center. My work included using assessment information to identify underlying skill gaps and develop individualized learning plans based on each student’s needs. I have helped students strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and foundational reading skills while building greater confidence as learners. My approach is to meet students where they are, identify what may be getting in the way, and provide targeted instruction to help them progress.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I have 5+ years of experience in diagnostic-prescriptive supplemental education, including serving as a Director at Sylvan Learning Center and founder/director of A-PLUS Education Center. I have worked with students to strengthen vocabulary as an important component of both reading comprehension and effective written communication. My approach includes helping students use context clues, word parts, word relationships, and other strategies to understand meaning and make more precise word choices. I focus on developing vocabulary skills students can apply independently across reading, writing, and other academic subjects.
