I graduated with a Doctorate degree in Biostatistics in 2013, with a Masters degree in Biostatistics in 2009, and with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science (I graduated summa cum laude) in 2007. I received the Outstanding Senior in Mathematics Award in 2007, the Outstanding Graduate Student Award in 2013, and received a Ph. D. with Distinction for my dissertation in 2013.

I tutored in the Math Lab during the Fall 2006, Spring 2007, and Summer 2007 semesters while I was attending Augusta State University (now Augusta University). While I was working in the Math Lab I provided tutoring services to students on an as needed basis for College Algebra, Precalculus, Elementary Statistics, and Calculus courses. My tutoring approach for the students that came to the Math Lab involved working out textbook problems with them on the whiteboard, answering any questions they asked me, and walking them through any graded exams they showed me to help them understand where they went wrong on their exam problems and what they needed to do differently to improve their competence with any course material they were struggling with.

I was a teaching assistant for Statistical Theory I, Statistical Theory II, Introduction To Epidemiology, and for Design and Analysis of Observational Studies while I was attending graduate school at Medical College of Georgia (now Augusta University). While I was a teaching assistant for these courses I answered any questions they had during class lectures and I tutored students that were enrolled in these courses one on one as needed during my office hours. My tutoring approach for these students was to answer any questions they asked of me, to work out problems with them to help improve their competence with the course material, and to provide them guidance on how to solve the homework problems correctly while still placing the responsibility of solving them on the students.

I taught at Georgia Regents University (now Augusta University) in the Fall 2013

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I taught "Precalculus" and "Calculus I", which both involve substantial algebra material, during the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters while working as a full-time instructor at Georgia Regents University (now Augusta University). Since I started working as a tutor through Wyzant in March 2019, I've repeatedly provided clients instruction in algebra, precalculus, and calculus. It's important to note that algebra is a fundamental component of both precalculus and calculus, which implies that providing clients instruction in precalculus and calculus also involves providing them instruction in algebra.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I taught "Precalculus" and "Calculus I", which both involve substantial algebra material, during the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters while working as a full-time instructor at Georgia Regents University (now Augusta University). Since I started working as a tutor through Wyzant in March 2019, I've repeatedly provided clients instruction in algebra, precalculus, and calculus. It's important to note that algebra is a fundamental component of both precalculus and calculus, which implies that providing clients instruction in precalculus and calculus also involves providing them instruction in algebra.
Biostatistics

Biostatistics

I graduated from Augusta University (formerly Georgia Regents University) with a Ph.D. in Biostatistics in 2013. I was also given the Outstanding Graduate Student Award and received a Ph.D. with Distinction for my dissertation in 2013 as well. I graduated from Augusta University (formerly Georgia Regents University) with an M.S. in Biostatistics in 2009. I worked as an Instructor at Augusta University (formerly Georgia Regents University) from August 2013 - May 2014 and taught Elementary Statistics, Calculus and Analytic Geometry I, and Precalculus during this time.
Calculus

Calculus

I taught "Calculus I" during the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters while working as a full-time instructor at Georgia Regents University (now Augusta University). Since I started working as a tutor through Wyzant in March 2019, I've repeatedly had tutoring lessons with clients regarding material from calculus I, II, and III. It's also important to note that tutoring lessons with clients regarding biostatistics, statistics, and probability also frequently involve providing instruction on calculus material due to the frequent usage of calculus in courses for biostatistics, statistics, and probability.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

While I was enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program at Augusta State University (now Augusta University), I took "Differential Equations" during the Fall 2006 semester and earned an A in the course. I also earned a 100% on Wyzant's certification quiz for Differential Equations. I've also had multiple successful tutoring sessions with clients in differential equations since I began working as a tutor through Wyzant in March 2019.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

Since I started working as a tutor through Wyzant in March 2019, I've repeatedly provided clients with instruction in algebra, statistics, and biostatistics. It's important to note that providing instruction in algebra can involve linear algebra, since solving systems of two or three linear equations is both an algebra topic and a linear algebra topic. It's also important to note that providing instruction in biostatistics/statistics often involves linear algebra, since multiple linear regression is a biostatistics/statistics topic that involves matrices, determinants, and other linear algebra concepts.
Logic

Logic

I earned an A in Symbolic Logic and Set Theory, and I earned an A in all of the other proof-driven math courses I took during my Bachelor's in Mathematics program (e.g. Abstract Algebra I-II, Real Analysis I-II, Number Theory, etc.). I earned a B or higher in the statistical theory courses I took during my Master's in Biostatistics program and during my Ph.D. in Biostatistics program. I've successfully tutored students in writing proofs for statistics courses on many occasions while working as a Wyzant tutor.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I taught "Precalculus" and "Calculus I" during the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters while working as a full-time instructor at Georgia Regents University (now Augusta University). Since I started working as a tutor through Wyzant in March 2019, I've also repeatedly provided clients with instruction in algebra, precalculus, and calculus. It's essential to note that providing instruction in pre-algebra is a fundamental component of instruction for algebra, precalculus, and calculus, as pre-algebra material is used in algebra, precalculus, and calculus courses.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I taught "Precalculus" during the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters while working as a full-time instructor at Georgia Regents University (now Augusta University). Since I started working as a tutor through Wyzant in March 2019, I've repeatedly instructed students regarding precalculus material. It's also important to note that tutoring lessons with clients regarding calculus frequently involve instruction pertaining to precalculus material due to the frequent appearance of precalculus material in calculus courses.
Probability

Probability

I received a PhD in Biostatistics in 2013 and was awarded a PhD with distinction by my doctoral committee for my dissertation. I taught two sections of "Elementary Statistics" simultaneously during both the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters while working as a full-time instructor at Georgia Regents University (now Augusta University). I've worked as a tutor through Wyzant since March 2019, with biostatistics, statistics, and probability being the most common subject areas involved in my tutoring lessons with clients.
R

R

I frequently wrote and executed R code from the Fall 2008 semester of my Master's in Biostatistics program through the Spring 2013 semester of my PhD in Biostatistics program to complete homework assignments, conduct analyses for completing my Master's thesis, and conduct analyses for completing my doctoral dissertation. The analyses for completing my Master's thesis required me to write and execute 8,000+ lines of R code, and the analyses for completing my doctoral dissertation required me to write and execute 100,000+ lines of R code. Since I started working as a tutor through Wyzant in March 2019, I've also frequently written and executed R code while instructing clients about how to write and execute R code due to biostatistics, statistics, and probability lessons with clients frequently requiring the use of R code to accomplish necessary tasks.

Patient and Knowledgeable

I was concerned that my plan to become competent in math from algebra to Calculus in one year (to prepare to start a Physics program) was impossible. Joshua not only gave me a more optimistic look, but is willing to work with me, in the way I learn, to reach my math goals. I look forward to continuing to learn with Joshua!

Joshua the great professor of Statistics.

Joshua taught me Statistics and many other things about how to effectively navigate my online class other technical issues. He is a great guy. I will always use him whenever it becomes necessary and it will be my pleasure to introduce students to him. The lessons I did with him helped me realize my goal of obtaining a bachelor's in health services management. He is very knowledgeable and patient. Hei is also compassionate and understanding.

He is a not a knowledgeable tutor.

Do not sign up with him he does not have the knowledge, he just took my money and did not teach me anything, he was going so fast and mumbling in his mouth, does not the subject of Biostatistics. He did not know the answer to any questions and he could not explain it either. I am going to ask for my refund for the 15min he wasted my time. I cut short his lecture when I found out that he was just there to take students money. DO NOT TAKE HIS TUTORING.

Tutor responded:

Good evening, Alex. I’m frankly shocked by your negative lesson review for our lesson on April 24 since your behavior during our lesson almost completely contradicts the narrative you presented in your negative lesson review. After looking at the recording for our lesson on Wyzant’s website twice, I found the following discrepancies between the narrative you presented in your negative lesson review and the recording for our lesson on Wyzant’s website: 1. You claimed in your review that I was speaking too fast. In contrast, the recording for our lesson showed you clearly never said that I was speaking too fast for you during our lesson. It also showed that you clearly never asked me to speak slower during our lesson. It also showed that you didn't indicate during our lesson that I needed to change my speaking speed for you and thus didn’t allow me to adjust my speaking speed to your satisfaction. Even though I spoke faster than I remembered speaking when I listened to the recording for our lesson and I will monitor my speaking speed more diligently during my future tutoring lessons with clients, your failure to volunteer your dissatisfaction with my speaking speed during our lesson is unacceptable. 2. You claimed in your review that I was mumbling. In contrast, the recording for our lesson showed that you clearly never said that I was mumbling during our lesson. It also showed that you never said that you couldn’t understand what I was saying and that you never asked me to repeat a sentence for you that you couldn’t understand originally. You didn't indicate during our lesson that you thought I was mumbling or that you couldn’t understand what I was saying and thus didn’t allow me to adjust my speech to your satisfaction. Even though the recording of our lesson showed that my enunciation had some room for improvement and I will monitor my enunciation more diligently during my future tutoring lessons with clients, your failure to volunteer your perception of me mumbling while I was speaking to you and your f
