Graduate Student, specialist in Biology and English

Beginning in May I will be a graduate student at Emory University, obtaining my MPH and Ph.D from Rollins school of Public Health. I will have received my bachelors in Biology, with a focus in Genetics from Mercer at the end of April. I will have also obtained a minor in English and Chemistry. Additionally I also have my EMT license and I am a certified instructor for multiple Red Cross Courses. I have spent the last eight years coaching elementary to high school swim. I also have experience teaching college and adult courses for the Red Cross. During my time at Mercer, I also was a TA for multiple course, including introductory biology courses and genetics. As a TA, I explained many intro biology topics and answered questions in and outside of class. I spend many hours researching as well in the genetics department, my focus being in NCSC. During research hours at Mercer, I spend a great deal of time teaching new lab techniques and providing insight on PCR amplification procedures and explaining Gel Electrophoresis. Additionally to my background in STEM, I also have acted as a consultant in the English department for undergraduate students working on research papers. Here, I assisted in proof reading, grammar, and explained the purpose/how to correctly cite in varying formates (including but not limited to MLA, APA, CSE, and Chicago formate). I work deliberately with each student to find which teaching styles and studying techniques works for them, and I am always happy to accommodate my style of teaching to fit the needs of students.
