I’m Anna Kate and my husband and I just welcomed our son into the world! I am a certified educator with certifications in 6-12 mathematics, k-12 computer science with 6 years of experience (6 in math & 3 in CS). In the last two years, I have had a 100% pass rate in the AP Computer Science exams.
I graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in Mathematics and a BS in Mathematics Education. Through my course study at UGA, I am qualified to teach all high school math classes, all Calculus courses, and some upper level math courses. After graduating from UGA, I worked for 3 years teaching math where I lead the way teaching online when COVID hit. In that job, I found a love of Computer Science and began learning Python and Java. In pursuit of solidifying my self taught skills, I am currently enrolled at Georgia Tech earning my Masters in Computer Science.
When I moved to my current school, I began teaching computer science, engineering and math. I currently teach Introduction to Software Technology, AP Computer Science Principles, and AP Computer Science A. I have built the computer science program in our school from having only one CS class to having an entire career pathway. My success is evident not only in the growth of the program but also the growing diversity of the population.
Through teaching both Math and CS, I have found that they are incredibly similar and my reason for loving them is the same. I love to problem solve. There is nothing more satisfying than being given a problem and finding a solution.
In education specifically, I am passionate about helping students find their stride in math and computer science. One of my favorite parts about teaching is the light bulb moment-it’s why I became a teacher. I look forward to helping you not only get through math or computer science, but to thrive in your class.
